THE SERVICE First founded in 1989,Ethnic Access Link is an independent organisation, registered as a charity, that offers a free service for the people of Worcester who need help communicating in English.
LINKWORK INTERPRETERS Ethnic Access Link employs a number of Linkwork Interpreters on a regular and sessional basis offering help to to Worcester's main ethnic communities in a dozen or so languages. All the interpreters speak English as their second language which ensures accurate understanding.
We will seek to provide an interpreter that suits the needs of the client.
home tutor service In conjunction with Worcester College of Technology, Ethnic Access Link recruits, trains and supports volunteer Home Tutors who teach English to people in their own homes if they are unable to attend language courses at the local college or other venue.

COMMISSIONED WORK We also provide a fee paying service to agencies who do not fund us annually, such as the Police or Courts.

THE PRINCIPLES OF ETHNIC ACCESS LINK
THE MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE Ethnic Access Link is managed by a Board of Trustees who employ a Director to run the service, A Consultative Forum, of representatives from minority ethnic groups, funders, professionals and statutory agencies, meets biannually to provide guidance and advice to the Trustees. Seven nationalities are represented on the Forum and four on the Trustee Board. CULTURAL AWARENESS TRAINING By prior arrangement, and for an agreed fee, Ethnic Access Link will provide Multi Cultural Awareness Training sessions for other agencies in relation to the main minority ethnic communities living in Worcester. We also provide training in best practice in interpreting. |
